A new discovery of mine, Hold Close, based out of Springfield, Missouri and signed to Hopeless records at the end of 2017, released a new EP ’Time’ this past January. I don’t know how i’m just now finding out about this, but i’m sure glad i did!
Featuring their song “Hang Tight” this week on the Music To Keep Pop Punk Alive playlist, Hold Close creates some very unique sounds! featuring some very jazzy electric piano and ambient pads on top of everything else you want in a pop punk song. big guitars and drums, with group vocals and lyrics about escaping away.
“Hang Tight” ends beautifully with a big group Whoa section that you can just picture an entire room of people shouting at the top of their lungs. If you haven’t discovered Hold Close, I recommend you do now before you’re last one.
