From U2’s Achtung Baby album, this week’s track is, One. Achtung, translates to Respect in German. So this week we have a theme, how do we show ourselves respect? And how do we show others respect?
To find out I began to observe myself, through observing, I realised where my attention was. What words I used, what I was thinking about.
I came to learn over time, that I was able to choose my attention. I believe this is setting an intent. I played with this idea by setting intentions “They will hear and understand me” or “I am calm and compassionate”. My intent was the first step in creating something, a conversation, a task, or even adventure.
Bono sings to us, beginning with; Is it getting better? Or do you feel the same? Will it make it easier on you, now you’ve got someone to blame?
If your attention is on blame, you will remain stuck. There is no freedom in blame. There is, freedom, in becoming responsible, for your attention, as there is freedom in choice.
A Japanese Scientist, Dr Emoto, has proved intent can be manifested into our physical world. He proved this by exposing water, to different words, music, prayer and images. Dr Emoto then froze the water and viewed the tiny crystals with a microscope. The water responded in a different way each time, forming different shapes and patterns.
The results, so profound and beautiful, demonstrate to us, the power we have to choose our moments, and days, and lives.
There are many videos available on youtube, to see for yourself, or books if you are that way inclined. Be prepared to see intricate snowflakes for “love” or “truth” water, and something that resembles a disease, for “I want to kill you” water.
We are 60% water, our thoughts create our intent, weather we are paying them attention or not.
You may see some people drinking from glasses or bottles with words like “Joy”, “Heal”, “Compassion”, “Forgive” or “Accept”. I drink out of a glass bottle which had cordial in it, purchased from the local supermarket. I turned it upside down the other day, it says “Trust”. I live in the bush and have an onsite water storage, not town water, I am thinking about making “Love” water.
Far reaching possibilities, a considered attention and intent can deliver a clearer path. A path we walk by choice, or as a friend of mine put it “Do you want to be the driver of the bus, or the passenger”. We always have intent, but if we do not have our attention, we will not know what it is.
Who has your attention? Do you drive your bus?

About the Curator: Erin Murray
Erin, a Mother of 1 little man and wife to 1 big man has learnt much about herself in the past few years. After moving from the city to the bush (near the Ocean), there weren’t as many distractions as she had become accustomed to, in a smaller community she lost her anonymity and slowly began to become aware of herself, her feelings, the life she had created for herself and her relationships with others. Seeking change from the feelings and behaviors which had become her normal, she sought out methods to do just that. Slowly at first, then a bit more and a bit more she is becoming aware of what she actually wants for herself and has begun removing the things that aren’t that, inside and out. Learning about faith (not religionJ), fun and how to be gentle with herself and others along the way.
