In the Heart of the Moon, I love this album title, what knowing must lay their? Ali Farka Toure and Toumani Diabaté fuse their crafted styles, complimenting each other, seemingly so easy, it is as if we are listening to a jam session. The movement of these sounds, the gentle building, the story unknown to me, is enchanting.
Taken on a journey through time, space, and the barrier of perception. The opaque edge of our reality fades a little, enough to wonder. Your body sways, your feet shuffle, the shoulders subtly waken. Your eyes close, sharpening your other senses. Your list does not matter here. You are movement, feeling, sound and movement.
Our senses can meet the needs of our environment, a child born in the jungle has a naturally enhanced sight, with little walls, or fences to pause their gaze. Their instinct felt and trusted, as this will lead them to food, water, away for danger and towards wonder.
Without going to the jungle, we can awaken something we didn’t even know we had. Exploring our world, joining its natural processes, walking in the rain, barefoot on the earth, seeing a bird you heard with your ear, riding a wave, riding the wind or even, riding the sky.
Our perception does not have to stop where it always has, we can expand our field of perception, beyond the walls and screens, and maybe even more...

About the Curator: Erin Murray
Erin, a Mother of 1 little man and wife to 1 big man has learnt much about herself in the past few years. After moving from the city to the bush (near the Ocean), there weren’t as many distractions as she had become accustomed to, in a smaller community she lost her anonymity and slowly began to become aware of herself, her feelings, the life she had created for herself and her relationships with others. Seeking change from the feelings and behaviors which had become her normal, she sought out methods to do just that. Slowly at first, then a bit more and a bit more she is becoming aware of what she actually wants for herself and has begun removing the things that aren’t that, inside and out. Learning about faith (not religionJ), fun and how to be gentle with herself and others along the way.
