One of the things I’m always looking out for on the essay writing list is repeatability – for tracks that you can put on a loop and then lose yourself for an hour – or longer. It’s why the tracks on this list skew much longer in length than your average 3 minute song.
I’ve been grooving on Pirate Karate for the last couple of days – from the (rather appropriately) titled album “Never Ending Loops” by Canadian artist Emmanuel Lauzon recording as Wooden Drone. The album is full of beats that could work well when it comes to music to help you write – I was torn between this track, Detective Sashimi’s Misfortune and Le Loup Bleu but ended up going for the smoothest track of the three.
The TinTin fan in me did consider Castafiore Club but found it a little too “forward” to work well as an accompanying track – just like the legendary singer herself! 🙂
There’s so much music like this out in the ether – while most of it suffers from poor production values or just lame plagiarism – you do occasionally find gems like this. If you’re not up for a consistent 4 minute loop – I highly recommend playing the album through – there’s a huge array of different styles and moods to be evoked – all executed perfectly – and each one able to whisk you off on a journey of its own.
Worth taking out for a spin.
