Sometimes, one gets to know people who one knows will introduce them to good music. A fleeting friendship with a rather interesting person was the source of my introduction to Roo Panes--and I am very happy about it.
As the song starts, one doesn’t know what quite to expect and Panes’s soulful voice is a beautiful surprise. The lyrics are reflective and reminiscent of being lost and finding love, and end with a rather profound “If you give love and live love, then you’ll never be alone.” This is what I like about the song: the reflection on life’s problem is true but the outlook to it so positive and comforting. The alternative-country sounds, enhanced by the deep voice, help render the song a soft tone, enthralling the listener forcing them to think about love in all its glory (and complications).
If you are missing or forced to be away from your lover’s arms, let Roo Panes tell you how to still be close to Home.
