I first discovered the Madrid rock band Hinds (then known as Deers) while living abroad. My years in Spain were spent teaching English and I was charmed by the talent, style and rebellious nature of the Spanish youth. Hinds is no exception and reminds me of the inspiration that my students constantly gave me.
A doe, a deer, a female deer. Hinds is a Spanish indie rock band consisting of four kickass females from Madrid. They were originally called Deers but had to change it when an already established band with a similar sounding name threatened legal action. The clever ladies didn't let that get them down, however. Sticking with the Woodland Creature theme (a "hind" is a female deer), the ladies re-emerged as Hinds.
