Shout out to Matt from Music to Escape Reality for sharing this dope song with me. On their new single, "Mother May I," Wxsted Txlent lays down a great tune with elements of old school funk and hip-hop. The singer, Bobby LX, performs a melodic hook that's very soulful and refreshing which compliments the groove of the beat very well. In addition, I personally enjoy Bobby LX's slick and positive lyricism throughout the track.

"Mother May I ( Can I kick it) / Mother May I (Can I kick it) / Mother May I... take it to the top / You know that I be working / And got a smile ear to ear let me know if you will be here."

The instrumental, produced by Tommy Fresh (the other half of Wxsted Txlent), creates a solid foundation for the song's old school melody. Specifically, the boom-bap drums coupled with the beautiful keyboard, subtle guitar, and fun disc scratches make the track perfect to bop to. Overall, "Mother May I" is a fun song that listeners can dance or chill to on a nice summer picnic (it also deserves way more plays).

I am a student at the University of Maryland, College Park where I am studying Criminal Justice and Criminology with a minor in International Development and Conflict Management. After college, I want to get my law degree and practice criminal law. I am also a big music lover that listens to r&b, hip-hop, rock, reggae, and pop. But, I am also trying to expand my taste in music as much as I can to appreciate the different amount of genres out there. I also started a music blog in August 2018; so if you like reading interesting takes on music and concert opinions, then give it a glance.
