"Let's Dance" went on to be one of Bowie's best and fast selling singles for the year 1983 as it entered the U.K. charts. Eventually it topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S.  The single was certified platinum in Canada and certified gold in France, the U.K. and the U.S.

In 2018,  Nile Rodgers, who was the producer on the track, stated that "This [demo] recording was the first indication of what we could do together as I took his ‘folk song’ and arranged it into something that the entire world would soon be dancing to and seemingly has not stopped dancing to for the last 35 years! It became the blueprint not only for 'Let’s Dance' the song but for the entire album as well."
