Added to the playlist this week, a beautifully jazzy hip hop track by Eric Lau, a producer and DJ from London. Lau has worked with such artists as Gilles Peterson, Georgia Ann Muldrew, Fatima, Homeboy Sandman, Robert Glasper, and Erykah Badu.
"Here" features Rahel's conscience lyrics about being present in the moment. After the short electronic keyboard intro, the laid back swing groove immediately summons you to nod your head while reflecting on the truths that Rahel delivers; she assures us that "what you feel in your heart will surely illuminate you."
This track resonates especially in these days of constant distraction and uncertainty. "In the spectrum of light, let your instinct tell you what's right/ look at what's clear in your sight, to guide you on your path of life." The track breaks down at the end to allow the refrain to stand on it's own: "nothing to fear, while you are here."
