There's this slang/meme in Brazil in which we say: "Se juntos já causam, imagina juntos", hahahahaha Brazilian humor is very particular, so it would be hard to translate; but let me try it: "if together they gather all the attention, just imagine how much attention they wouldn't gather together"... Sounds super weird and redundant putting it like this, hahahahaha... Well, the original meaning is something that definitely applies for The Carters, a duo formed by... f*cking Beyoncé and Jay Z. Yes. If the idea of these two dope & legendary artists as a couple is already mind blowing, just imagine how much mind blowing things can get when this couple make music together (oh, YES, now this is a better way to understand the meme context).
And they did not release just a collab. They blessed the year of 2018 with a whole damn album, "Everything is love" — an amazing album!!
Needless to talk about what Jay Z means to Music to Dali & Jay Z Lovers, right? Needless to describe Beyoncé as well (I couldn't even if I wanted to do, she's f*cking Beyoncé!!!!), but it's important to say that she represents a lot of what we endorse here: she's creative, she's fierce, she's confident about her art, about her statement and about what she wants to do.
And speaking about being confident about what one has to say, this is exactly what Bey and Jay do in "Lovehappy". The main reason why, out of all the great 9 tracks of "Everything is love", I chose "Lovehappy", is because it fits the sonic standards of the songs I've been choosing for our playlist: the jazzy hip hop combination. However, I love the message of the lyrics in "Lovehappy" and I believe it fits our concept pretty well too.
Bey and Jay have always discrete about their love life, but occasionally some things might come out sometimes and they feel exposed. In the last years, they've faced problems in their marriage, and both parties have spoken about it in their latest albums, Bey's "Lemonade" and Jay's "4:44".
In "Lovehappy", they are saying that they overcame the problems and are happy in love again.
This is a very powerful statement from them, especially because of how much both were and still are judged for what one did to cause the marriage's problems (I won't get into the problem here), and for how the other party decided to forgive.
As far as we know, this is not a story of an abusive, toxic or damaging relationship, so we can assume that both parties are lucid in their decisions to forgive and/or start over and try not to make the same mistakes. Stating it for the whole world to hear demands a lot of courage, especially because Bey and Jay are so powerful (both as solo artists and together as a couple who built an empire), it's interesting to see the way they deal with their vulnerabilities.
I support people taking ownership of their lives even if it goes against what public opinion might say (as long as no one is being harmed, of course), so Bey and Jay's powerful statement makes "Lovehappy" a perfect fit for our playlist.
And of course: Bey rapping! Bey's wonderful vocals! Jay being a rap king as always! The brassy horns! The beat! No doubt, this is another great moment for the couple's list of incredible collaborations.

About the curator: Ana Clara Ribeiro
Music, art and entertainment have always played a big role in the life of Ana Clara Ribeiro. She grew up in Gurupi (an inland city in Tocantins, the youngest State of Brazil), listening to all kinds of music, reading, writing, watching stuff and connecting them to her personal beliefs and other ideas she read about.
As she became a lawyer and a writer, all the topics to which she is constantly exposed continued to give her insights about life, people and the universe, through the lenses of art.
Nowadays, when she isn’t analyzing lawsuits or producing content about Law, Marketing, Business or Music, she is certainly doing something related to her various personal and professional projects, always to the sound of a playlist as eclectic as her life.

Snoop Dogg’s voice and relaxed flow fits the beat extremely well, and the opening line of his verse might explain how he manages to still be on top of his game even after almost 30 years active: “Nothing last forever unless you talking ’bout my rap game“… Quoting a famous Brazilian song, “nice and slow is how we get there” – this seems to be his philosophy…
