Gevende is a band formed in the Eskişehir region of Turkey by a bunch of university students. From their early years as a band, their unique sound brought a new breath to the music scene of Turkey. Their genre is not crystal clear but “folk rock” and “psychedelic folk” can be used to describe them. Unlike many bands in Turkey, their songs are mostly instrumental and they bring uncommon sounds and different instruments together.
Many people think that the language they use in their songs is a Balkan language. However, it’s a language created by the band members. They call it “the language of nowhere”. The people listening to the songs try to understand the lyrics by focusing on the emphasis of the words.
The song, “Esinti”, starts as a calm instrumental song and continues with lively melodies accompanied by their “language of nowhere”. The most remarkable parts of the song are where brass instruments have solos. The last part of the song, the main melody, is the most powerful part of the song.
