A wicked playlist to ram through Wednesday
Need fun music to plow over the middle of the week? Not Another Hump Day is the beast of Wednesday playlists. Updating weekly, it’s never what you think it will be.
It’s Wednesday. In Latin, this is known as the day of Mercury, which sounds cool enough when you think of the word mercurial. At least it does until you realize that a day on the planet Mercury equals a little over 58 and a half Earth days.
That sounds about right, or at least Wednesday can feel that long at times. And it could be worse. It could have been named after Venus. Then again, who would complain about a day named after the goddess of love feeling like 243 Earth days? It’s no wonder that’s the planet associated with Fridays.
Unfortunately, the idiom “Hump Day” has less mercurial and amorous beginnings.
Fun Pseudo Fact: According to Grammarist, Hump Day is a North American term that arose in the 1960s, “most probably in business offices” to reflect the middle of the week as a mountain (likely a mountain of paperwork) workers had to climb.
Okay, maybe not a fun fact, but an interesting one. Who knew Hump Day wasn’t just another Twitter hashtag?
But what is the Not Another Hump Day playlist?
Our Wednesday playlist, Not Another Hump Day, removes the business in front and focuses on the party in the back. It’s a playlist for the middle of the week, but as the title suggests, it’s not ordinary.
This playlist gets back to celebrating the mercurial nature of Wednesday. It also celebrates Venus, because if this day of the week feels the longest, let’s make it sexy and fun!
Will I like the music on Not Another Hump Day?
Do you like sex?
Joking. You don’t actually need to like sex to love the songs on this playlist, you simply need to have a fun-loving nature and a good sense of humor.
