This song is your favorite retro bar; the pinball machines chiming in the back of the room, the unbeatable happy hour, the Mrs. Pacman and Space Invaders machines that sit, very well loved, off to the side. This song is a couple beers deep, the bright electronics illuminating an otherwise darkened room.
This song is shadows that make you wonder if you know the girl at the end of the bar or if she just has a familiar face. This song is stumbling over your own feet, 3 am, praying that she's been watching you too. It's the music getting quieter, and her getting closer, and your heart getting louder as you ask her for her name. It's the way she smiles at you, "I've been waiting all night for you to say hello."
We dip back into the 5SOS pool for the release of their third studio album. This track is immensely influenced by the 80s, and each piece is exactly where it should be. The song is clean, crisp, with surprising depth and a hook that just won't quit. The synth pads are dreamy and nostalgic, the guitar stabs are pointed and intentional, the vocals are catchy and singable. Go listen to the album if you haven't already; you won't regret it.
