I like this song, it’s simple, easy to listen to, and understand. That is how yes is, a real yes is simple, and easy to say. It doesn’t start in your head though, a real yes starts in your body. It is different for everyone, you can find your yes feeling by saying it, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Say it until you can feel it in your body, where is it? What does it feels like? When you know what a real yes feels like, you will know the real answer to a yes or no question.
The same goes for no. Say it until you can feel it, no, no, no, no, no. Where is it in your body? This is your no feeling.
When you have a feeling, and you try to reason with it, change it, or make it go away, where does it go? Just disappear? What about stress, depression, anger. If we could change our feelings by reasoning with or ignoring them, these things wouldn’t exist. We may “think” a feeling is inconvenient in a particular moment, or even believe we should feel a different way.
What if, the feelings and emotions we chose to ignore stay inside us, left to fester, added to overtime…. somewhere in our body, our organs, our joints, our clarity, our voice. They would change the way our bodies feel and function. Each time we are angry and choose to keep it inside instead of dealing with it, it is added to the cup of unresolved anger. What happens when the cup is full and there is nowhere for the anger to go anymore?
So, how does yes feel? And, how does anger feel?
I was encouraged to have a chat with my organs recently, I was pretty concerned, let me tell you. This is how it went, close your eyes and imagine your liver (on your left side, inside your ribcage)
How does it look?
Ask your liver how it feels
Ask your liver what emotions it is holding onto
To be honest, I received enough information at this point. I stopped asking questions so I could process my answers. I believe you could go further and ask, why am I holding onto this? How do I let this go?
I could choose to ignore this information, or not to ask myself or body questions, but now that I have I know it feels true, it feels like a yes. To me ignoring myself and body is a kind of lie, it feels like a no. And really, even if I did choose to ignore it, it wouldn’t go away…….so I might as well try, as I can at my pace to ask, and listen, and feel.
Find your yes and follow it.

About the Curator: Erin Murray
Erin, a Mother of 1 little man and wife to 1 big man has learnt much about herself in the past few years. After moving from the city to the bush (near the Ocean), there weren’t as many distractions as she had become accustomed to, in a smaller community she lost her anonymity and slowly began to become aware of herself, her feelings, the life she had created for herself and her relationships with others. Seeking change from the feelings and behaviors which had become her normal, she sought out methods to do just that. Slowly at first, then a bit more and a bit more she is becoming aware of what she actually wants for herself and has begun removing the things that aren’t that, inside and out. Learning about faith (not religionJ), fun and how to be gentle with herself and others along the way.

How does wisdom come to us? How do we become, wise?
We are so many versions of ourselves in a lifetime. Can we see each version and honour it, thank it and move on? Knowing that each version brought us to here and now, knowing that we did the best we could at the time, and if we didn’t we learnt from it…
