Coming off their debut album (which I highly recommend listening to) ‘How Do You Feel Now?’ Joywave followed up with ‘Content’ which is just as amazing. Songs like ‘It’s a Trip’ and ‘Doubt’ saw some commercial success but (I usually don’t throw this around lightly) really any song from the album could have been a single.
One of my personal favorites ‘Rumors’ brings a bouncy groove with beautiful vocals and smooth keyboard/synths. Vocally they’ve always found such a great balance of catchy melodies with deep emotional lyrics. They’ve also found a great way to utilize space, in the chorus in between Daniel’s (lead singer) vocals they play a quick synth riff to fill in that dead space.
One other thing I want to comment on that they do such a great job of is song structure, this one in particular ends on an instrumental outro, but I’ve heard songs from them ending on a chorus or just a synth pattern. The album as a whole is a must listen, but at the very minimum give ‘Rumors’ a listen.

About The Curator - Dan Rendine
Bio - Growing up in the north western part of NJ, I’ve gotten to experience a taste of different musical influences from the old school era hip hop of NY to the classic rock blue collar sound of Springsteen to the angsty suburban teen punk emo scene. This led me to pick up a pair of drumsticks and start playing which I’m lucky enough to currently do. Graduating from Bloomsburg University in 2016 I’m now residing in Philly with my band Moonroof (whom I met while in college). Music has become more than a passion and I’m beyond excited to share what influences me as a listener. If you want to keep up with myself or my band, check out our social media below!
