Let's just start by reminding you that this is just a very personal view on a topic that can embark millions of different perspectives, humans are complex and we're all moved by different things, but having said that, I thought this was a proper moment to share why I think being a music curator is a great thing to do.
Let's face it, music is important, we don't realize it often but music is one of the things that has been with us for most of our human experience, we have changed costumes, clothes, hunting for agriculture, lots of different territories, we have even touched space, but music has been there, with us, in its most extremely diverse ways but always there.
And we're all somehow connected by it and connected to it, music is one of the most beautiful ways to take a gaze at the human soul, a language itself which speaks volumes about our capacity for expression, sensitivity and creation.
Music is important.
But why you?
Why should you be a music curator?
Why should you curate music?
Because you're special too, there's no one who can replace your unique perspective of things, no one who can pretend to see the world exactly as you see it, and no one can hear music and think, feel or express exactly how YOU do it, isn't that extremely valuable?
It's extremely telling and valuable to gaze at the musician's soul when listening to their music, but it's also uniquely beautiful to understand the perspective of the listener and how music manages to touch their soul in a unique way, this makes music important in a whole different way, we become able to see and understand the soul of an individual by how they perceive music, what they feel, what they choose to share and stress about it, what they try to pass on to their readers, how they can turn a playlist into a unique space, connect very different pieces of music and make them fuse into some sort of special coherence, only possible by the very unique essence and self of the curator.
And this is when we turn cosmic, when we start reflecting about the deeper meaning of life and human experience and we realize that the most important thing a human being can do on this world is truly exist as itself, as the essence of his heart and individual soul dictate, and, share their soul with all others as a truly important part of the universe.
This is when being a music curator becomes a transcendental experience, it becomes one of the most beautiful things you can do with your time on this earth, just being you, your true self, and showing others what your true self really is through the music that ignites its essence, the most fundamental flame of that heart of gold we all have but tend to fail to acknowledge.
So, why be a music curator?
There are a thousand good reasons:
listening to lots of music
getting to know new artists
getting some recognition, some lucky ones even get paid to do it...
But when you see right through the ever changing nature of circumstances and the superfluous quality of it all, there's one thing that remains:
Using music as an expression of your most valuable treasure and most important experience...
