Jordan Rakei is a London based artist, he was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia. His neo-soul/jazz/hip-hop infused sounds speaks for itself, and earned him early collaborations with Tom Misch and in Disclosure's sophomore album 'Caracal'. His debut album 'Cloak' in 2016 proved his potential and he gained a large following across North America and Europe. He has since released two more albums, 'Wallflower' in 2017 and 'Origin' in 2020. He also released a dance EP titled 'Small Moments' in late 2020 under the moniker 'Dan Kye'.
Wind Parade is a song by Donald Byrd, part of the album 'Places and Spaces' released in 1975. Jordan's re-work of the song is simply magnificent. He incorporates his style and personal touch, while playing tribute to those classic elements present in Donals Byrd's original tune. This song is part of a project by Blue Note Records, titled 'Blue Note Re:imagined'.
Best described by Blue Note Records Bio "Blue Note Re:imagined presents classic Blue Note tracks, reworked and newly recorded by a selection of the UK scene’s most exciting young talents today. Representing a bridge between the ground-breaking label’s past and future, the project will feature contributions from a roll call of internationally acclaimed jazz, soul and R&B acts." Those acts include: Jorja Smith, Ezra Collective, Alfa Mist, Yazmin Lacey, and Jordan Rakei, just to name a few.

About the Curator: Alejandro Laverde
I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia and now live in the San Fransisco Bay Area. Growing up in Colombia I had a lot of musical influence from my family with the great Hispanic/Latin artists that transcend generations and carry the essence of the culture to this day. My curiosity for music started then and was further developed when one of my uncles took me under his wing and opened the world of music in English to me, starting with classic Rock and Metal and going all the way to Rap, R&B, Jazz, and Electronic, from there I took it upon myself to keep being curious and explore music without limiting myself to certain languages and styles I understood but rather let the music do its thing and connect with the rhythm and the artist’s body of work.
Since then I have expanded my music library and collection, for every moment in life, there is a song that can help you celebrate, recover, laugh, cry. There is no limit as a listener to explore and enjoy the beautiful gift of music, which has no barriers and welcomes everyone.
Hope you enjoy this playlist and always remember to stay curious and open-minded, you never know when you’ll find that next hidden gem to jam out to.
