Throwback track this week because let's face it...there is just as much funk from the past as there is in the present, and future. And here at Music To Groove You, it's all covered. The New Birth is a lesser known, but beautiful soul group from the 70's. This track is uplifting to say the least. Aside from the absolute groove clinic happening from each musician and singer, it's a deeply rare sounding song.
Every four bars, a new layer is added. Not many songs do this but it's brilliant. Then, just when you think it's all "Doots" and "Yeahs" it explodes into it's vivid theme with the backbeat and vocal in place. This record was made in 1972 so it goes without saying that the overall sound is as cushy as possible. Truly a tune that deserves your attention and participation in dance and or sing-along form.
