Sometimes it is good to have an off-kilter type of thing in your grooving. In truth, it's always a good thing. Suburban Dream from The Stepkids brings the weird funk that you've been seeking. Graceful experimentation and clever bursts of sound are sitting pretty in the mix on this trippy-tasty laid-back track.
There are so many things happening here, yet, there is so much space. This is no doubt a complex balance to achieve. Plush, floating synths pass you by. Gritty guitar in the distance underneath the notable vocals. A little bit of tape saturation perhaps? Any way you play it, this is honest, unique music.
