Here at Music To Groove You, the sweet sounds of the famed Juno 106 synthesizer are always embraced. In fact, it is common procedure to stand and applaud when it is heard in action. Jacob Mann has not only released a hot album dedicated to the use of the instrument, but has applied it in non-traditional ways. This hip little boogie interlude is a case in point.
Barstow, although simple on the surface, is moving and glowing with texture. It's a smiling track. The train is rolling along but there isn't a parlor piano at play, it's a warm, fully functioning Juno with funky accompaniment. Some bars are exchanged with a sense of humor. Half way through there is a nice robot melody to dance to. Mann has created a bluesy, carefree atmosphere that grooves hard.
