This rising alt-pop singer focuses on the impact of technology on relationships with “Emoji.” It tells the story of the problems of communication in today's virtual dating world.
Au/Ra paints a scenario where one actually develops feelings for someone over the internet and rather than wanting to meet in the real world, prefers to stay “Emoji” a.k.a “the safe zone,” out of fear that they or the other person in question might not live up to the idea or picture in each other's mind. Sometimes it's just easier to stay in the fantasy realm than face reality.
