I was introduced to Dan Sultan a few years back and been hooked ever since. There's something really special about Australian music that paints a picture that's not always pretty, with raw honesty that cuts to the bone.
I sat and listened, again and again..Lyrically it struck a chord and made think about some of my peer group and the roads we've travelled and endured.
We are Men from all walks of life, ages, careers, and cultural backgrounds... Some of us live in the big smoke and others remote, and alone...
We are united by grief and loss, substance abuse and addiction, fighting the black dog of depression,..... and even jail time, and sadly some of us have seen it all.
Maybe that's true but not the full picture! When the shit hits the fan we are united by compassion and open arms, talking to someone into the wee hours of the night when they need someone to listen, a warm meal a bed or a financial leg up .
Our past roads may have been tough, but with our brothers we have the strength to move on.
