Gaupa is a new favorite band. Seriously, they rock. A co-worker turned me on to them last week and I haven't been able to stop listening since. Imagine Björk/Shirley Manson fronting a kick ass stoner rock band. They are dynamic, soulful, and heavy at all the right times. Also, they are produced and recorded really well, so their sound translates to the listener the way it should, something not every band pulls off.
As with a lot of bands that I love it's hard to pick one track to put on display. That being said, this one is a good example of the band's abilities. The music is hard and riff laden and lead singer Emma matches them with her powerful and dynamic vocals. I also really dig how the bassist utilizes fuzz on some of the meatier sections to add to the heaviness.
You'll definitely want to turn this up LOUD!!
