I think of this track as the end of a story--perhaps the end of a certain chapter in my playlist. The sheer sense of tranquillity I experience every time I listen to the track is unparalleled. The sound is fresh and nostalgic, just like the Indian Monsoons. Kale is a renowned tabla player, a heavily featured instrument in this track. His famous skills at mixing genres are at display here with the outstanding playoffs between the table and the flute, between the electric guitar and Carnatic vocals.
It is no surprise that such a track should come from Karsh Kale--a genius musical mind who has helmed the indie music scene in the country for decades. Thin Line of Blue is also a magical collaboration (like many of Kale's other collabs) with the singer Benny Dayal and songwriter/singer Ankur Tewari. In many ways, I feel like the track represents Indian culture that too is a concoction of myriad sounds from across the world that are somehow always melodic and please one's soul. In India, as in Kale's track, there is order in chaos and beauty in diversity.
