Spring is here, and there is no better way of celebrating it--if not with this beautiful track.
By now, it should be no news now that I deeply enjoy guitar jazz (the playlist is full of it) and Anthony Wilson is a great exemplar of the genre. The entire album Frogtown is compositionally brilliant-navigating its way seamlessly between different genres like jazz, folk and soft rock. It marks a first for Wilson's singing career but whats most outstanding about the record is its ability to paint landscapes for the listener as each song comes on. The emotion is simple but the execution is an acoustic treat.
This track stands out to me though. It is smooth and rich in sound. The third minute is my absolute favourite--there is so much going on. The guitar journeys on a high, building into a brilliant fourth minute that is fresh as Spring is. Wilson and his band successfully bring out the joy in the season in this delicate track.
If you are celebrating the onset of Spring, The Geranium is the appropriate soundtrack for your party.
