You have no idea idea the huge effort it took me to not put a Beatles’ song in the playlist. Selecting the last 3 songs, Lady Madonna was always on my mind and obviously as a Beatles’ freak I tried to not open this door. But, they are the “fathers” of Open Another Door.

As is a bit obvious, I have more affinity with Paul and it’s just because I really share many of the arrangements that turn songs into a Paul McCartney sound. I’m not only talking about music arrangements, I’m also contemplating the relationship with the lyrics and it’s tenderness (Helter Skelter is not so tender but that’s something completely different).

This doesn’t mean that the love I have for the other four (George Martin was a Beatle too) is not as big as for Paul. I swear it’s just a slightly bit more. These guys changed the world, they became legend and 48 years later (talking about this specific song) is still a hit.

Of course we have the King Elvis to give a great example of timeless star (by the way, he’s alive and he lives in Argentina…), but these guys are the timeless ones of Brit Pop.

You all realized I’ve been well behaved and didn’t went through the branches (going off topic) talking about The Beatles. But I will ensure you that I will try to give as much tips as I know about them in order to rediscover this wonderful timeless band.

About the curator - Rodrigo Medrano

Rodrigo Medrano - Curator of Music to Open Another Door

At a very early age, music had an incredible impact on Rodrigo’s life. He was never able to listen to lullaby songs; instead he was served Guns n’ Roses and Aerosmith for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

At the age of 12, he became a melomaniac, collecting albums, EP’s, recording sessions, and researching every kind of genre. All this helped him to get his first job at a recording studio where he realized his life would forever revolve around sound and music.

Working on cruise ships as First Audio Technician allowed him to let loose his passion and expand his knowledge on psychoacoustics, eventually promoted up to being in charge of sound for the hit broadway shows: Rock of Ages and Burn The Floor.

His music library will never stop growing as his melomania will get worse and worse.
